In all cities of Russia, including St. Petersburg, the very first type of public transport was the carts controlled by cabs. Such “drivers” were required to wear a special plaque with a number and actually a hat with a yellow tape. This type of public transport was mainly used by officials, clerks, small employees and students. And after visiting all significant transport routes of St. Petersburg, be sure to visit the bathhouse on the Academic, which will help remove the accumulated fatigue during walks. Over time, there appeared among such drivers “Likhachi”. They were considered prestigious cabs, they had more comfortable crew, the best horses, and they were dressed more polarly compared to others. These dashings usually awaited a rich audience near theaters or restaurants. In 1860, the 1st Line “Konka” was opened, that is, the horse railway. Konka was a picture: a couple of horses were harnessed to a trailer and rolled it on rails at a speed of 8 kilometers per hour. Since the speed of such transport was small, the first time it was used for transportation of goods, so it was considered a cargo mode of transport. And in 1865, the passenger routes of Konki were opened, which were very popular among low -income citizens, since they did not have such a material opportunity as using the services of cabmen. Konok routes gained great popularity among the population, since by the beginning of the 20th century there were 30 lines throughout the city. In 1907, in 24 cities of Russia, including in St. Petersburg, a tram route was introduced, which connected the Alexander Garden with the Konnogvardeisky Boulevard along the way, and then with the Kronstads. The tram was very different from Konka. And it was not only in speed, but also in amenities, but also in servicing passengers. Conductor and wagoned wore a special, solid form. At first, passengers used the services of this type of transport for entertainment, but gradually it became a public and main mode of transport for a long time.
