Repair of a separate room, whether it is a kitchen or living room, as well as the repair of an apartment as a whole – a process covering several directions. So, having completed the decoration of the walls and floor of the room, replacing the windows, you cannot forget about the repair of the ceiling. This stage is not only important, but also difficult due to the inconvenience of work with this surface of the room. However, it can be carried out independently, without the participation of specialists. Especially if you choose the type of finish in the execution – strengthening on the ceiling of drywall plates. That is why, as well as because of the relative cheapness of the material, many stop on suspended drywall ceilings, planning to repair the kitchen, living room and other rooms. And the aesthetic qualities of the coating are beyond praise – it allows you to implement interesting design solutions in the interior of living rooms and kitchens.
Gypsum cardboard ceiling – a type of suspension ceiling. The list of its advantages, by the way, is not limited to low cost and ease of installation. Such ceilings allow you to hide the flaws and defects of the basic surface, hide communication systems. In addition, they increase heat – and sound insulating indicators of the room and give wide opportunities for the distribution of light sources. Suspended ceilings are single -level and multi -level. Naturally, the first variety is more suitable for independent installation, so we will further consider the installation of a single -level ceiling.
Before you start describing the installation process, we note that two people are required to participate in the work. But the rest of the installation is really very simple, what you will see now. By the way, it is worth noting another quality of drywall ceiling – versatility. Wherever repairs are carried out – the kitchen, the living room or the bedroom – the ceiling made of drywall will be appropriate.
Stages of installation of drywall suspended ceiling
1. Marking
Marking on the surfaces of the walls is needed to determine the future height of the ceiling made of drywall. This is a very important stage, on the competent holding of which the smoothness of the ceiling horizontally will depend. Marking can be applied in different ways. We describe one of the ways. In the corners of the room at the level where the plasterboard ceiling will be located, marks are placed that determine the contour of the structure. Then, the thread painted with brick dust is fixed strictly along the marks and pulled along the wall between the two corners of the room, after which it is pulled and released. As a result, a flat line appears. The same procedure is done with other walls.
2. Installation of a frame made of metal profile
To fix drywall, you must first mount the frame of metal profiles. On the lines that appeared on the walls of the walls due to the marking, it is necessary to attach guide profiles, and then apply the tags for fasteners through their fasteners. Then, on the walls along the perimeter of the room, recesses are made by a perforator, they insert a dowel of plastic in them. After that, guide profiles are attached to the walls using self -tapping screws. Between themselves, guide profiles are fastened with the installation of one in the other.
Ceiling profiles are installed using suspensions, and these suspensions are attached to the most basic ceiling. The ends of the ceiling profiles are fastened with guide profiles on the walls. Absolutely all fasteners during the installation of the frame are made using self -tapping screws. When the installation of the frame is completed, communication networks are laid, which will be hidden by a suspended ceiling: wiring for lighting, ventilation ducts, television and telephone cables, etc. D.
3. Installation on the frame of drywall sheets
Now work begins directly with drywall. With the help of a partner, a sheet of drywall rises up and is attached to the metal frame with the same self -tapping screws. Laying can start with any corner of the room. First, the sheet is attached along its perimeter, and then attached to the ceiling profiles left under it. If necessary, unnecessary parts of the sheet can be cut off. So, sheet behind a sheet, drywall closes the entire base ceiling.
Joints and gaps that appeared between the sheets during the installation process are sealed with a film-sheet. Then the ceiling is primed, and putty is applied to the joints. If in it, according to the design project, lamps are expected, holes are made at the place of their location, into which lamps will be inserted after. And the new plasterboard ceiling is already ready for finishing!
